Dear Families,
We do hope that this letter finds you and your family well. We recognize the impact this time has had on families and we want you to know we are truly here for you.
Please accept this letter to provide you with the most up to date information for the Extended School Year services on behalf of your child.
The FLLAC Collaborative Team and our Member Districts have participated in weekly webinars with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) hosted by the Assistant Commissioner Russell Johnston, who has been keeping us abreast to the current data and information for all schools within the Commonwealth. The Commissioner has outlined “Initial Summer School Re Opening Guidance”, which we have attached to this letter. The FLLAC educational team and our Member Districts will be working diligently to assess the feasibility of these guidelines to ensure your child’s health safeties, as well as, awaiting authorization from Governor Baker. Regardless of the outcome we will still continue to plan for Remote Learning with the hope of Face to Face instruction.
We understand this is not ideal for your child and all of our students, but we need to provide services differently during this unprecedented time. At this time please plan for Remote Learning for the Extended School Year, but we will be assessing the options and guidance outlined. Your child’s District representative may be reaching out to discuss options with the families (e.g. transportation options, etc). We look forward to your collaboration and will provide you with updates as more information becomes available.
Over the next few weeks we will be sending out more information as we close up the school year and enter into the next component of your child’s educational needs. Should you have further questions don’t hesitate to reach out to your Program Administrators.
Sincerely,
John Demanche, Executive Director
